On behalf of the Indonesian business community, I respectfully invite you to attend the APEC CEO Summit 2013 on 5-7 October in Bali, one of the world's most beautiful islands. Indonesia is delighted to be hosting APEC once again, at a time when the global economy is at a pivotal juncture, almost 20 years on from the Bogor Goals when the leaders of Asia-Pacific first envisioned free and open trade and investment.

The aim of the Summit is to create a unique platform to discuss the future of the Asia-Pacific and to contribute to achieving sustainable inclusive growth globally. As a key stakeholder in our future, I invite you to join us to work together towards a more resilient world and to build bridges to growth to create more opportunities for trade and investment for the benefit of the people in our economies.

  ABAC Indonesia held the ABAC Business Luncheon on Indonesia’s APEC Chairmanship 2013 to facilitate a dialogue between the business community (including Indonesian business constituents and some of business chambers from APEC economies) and the Indonesian Government regarding Indonesia’s Chairmanship of APEC in 2013. The Indonesian Government was represented by Minister of Trade Minister Mr Gita Wirjawan, Minister of Industry Mr M.S Hidayat and former Chairman of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) Mr Chatib Basri. In his keynote address, Wishnu Wardhana, ABAC Chair 2013, encouraged the business sector to support APEC and maintain the strategic momentum leading up to the Summit. ABAC as the direct channel between the business community and APEC Leaders would continue to represent the business sector in delivering input in the policy-making process.
  
  At the ABAC luncheon, Wishnu Wardhana discussed the role of ABAC, points that would become recommendation for APEC Leaders and presented an update about the APEC events in October 2013. The Indonesian business community was encouraged to support the APEC CEO Summit 2013, the premier business event of Asia-Pacific that convenes over 1000 business leaders from the private sector together with APEC Leaders to discuss business and investment opportunities.

  Infrastructure is a pivotal element to sustainable and inclusive economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region. In order to promote infrastructure development, synergy between public and private sector is strongly needed. In 2010, APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) proposed the idea of Asia-Pacific Infrastructure Partnership (APIP), an initiative that was endorsed during the APEC Finance Ministers Meeting 2011.
  
  APIP brings together key officials, experts from multilateral development banks as well as senior private sector infrastructure experts and practitioners, to objectively discuss infrastructure finance and other relevant issues such as infrastructure Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects.
  
  As one of the priorities in APEC 2013, APIP has initiated preliminary dialogues on infrastructure with Asia-Pacific Economies. The latest dialogues between APIP and governments included dialogues with the Indonesian Government on 22 October 2012 in Jakarta, followed by dialogues with the Philippines and Thai Governments on 23 January and 22 February 2013 respectively.

  The main agenda of the meeting was to agree on recommendations that the ABAC community would submit to APEC Ministers Responsible for Trade at the APEC meetings in Surabaya on 20-21 April 2013.
  
  The Singaporean government showed strong support to the business leaders and received them at the Istana. During his keynote address, the Acting Prime Minister, Teo Chee Hean, highlighted the importance of collaboration between the business sector and government to drive regional prosperity and lauded ABAC's role in this regard.
