ABAC Indonesia

The APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) is an independent high-level group of business people who advise leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) on priority issues for business in the region. ABAC was established by regional leaders in 1995 to provide business input into the APEC forum.

ABAC Members are appointed by leaders of the government from each of 21 APEC Economies. ABAC has 63 Members, comprising of 3 business leaders from each of the 21 APEC Economies, whereby one of the three becomes the economy’s Chair. The host economy’s Chair serves as ABAC Chair. Presidential Decree No. 79/M of 2012 dated 31 August 2012 gives the mandate to the current ABAC Indonesia Members and Alternate Members.

    Mr. Wishnu Wardhana is President Director and Group CEO of PT Indika Energy Tbk. Mr. Wardhana also serves as Commissioner at PT Kideco Jaya Agung – Indonesia’s 3rd largest coal producer – and holds multiple board positions at PT Indika Mitra Energi, PT Indika Inti Corpindo, PT Indika Energy Infrastructure, PT Indika Infrastruktur Investindo, PT Tripatra Engineering, PT Tripatra Engineers and Constructors, PT Indoturbine, and PT Teladan Resources.

    In addition, Mr. Wardhana serves as Chair of APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC) 2013, Chair of APEC CEO Summit 2013, and Vice Chair of Indonesian Chamber of Commerce (KADIN) for Energy and Mineral Resources. Mr. Wardhana earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1993 from Pepperdine University, California, United States.

    Mr. Anindya Novyan Bakrie is the Chairman of PT Bakrie Global Ventura, the private equity arm of the Indonesia's Bakrie family, with interests in a range of public-listed companies in telecommunications, media, property, plantations, infrastructure, mining, oil & gas.

    A philanthropist at heart, Mr. Bakrie created the Bakrie Center Foundation which has set up Chairs at several leading international universities and research institutions as well as offers scholarships to academically gifted Indonesian students.

    Ms. Karen Agustiawan is the President Director and CEO of PT Pertamina (Persero), an Indonesian state-owned energy corporation based in Jakarta and the world's largest producer and exporter of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG). During her tenure as CEO, she has overseen the development of alternative energy sources like coal bed methane extraction and established a liquefied natural gas distribution system with Perusahaan Listrik Negara.

    Before assuming her current position, Ms. Agustiawan was the Upstream Director of PT Pertamina (Persero) from 2008-2009 and Expert Staff to the Upstream Director from 2006-2008. Prior to these positions, she was with Halliburton Indonesia from 2002-2006, Landmark Graphic Corporation, Indonesia from 1998-2002 and CGG Petrosystems, Indonesia in 1998. Ms. Agustiawan has had a long experience in the oil and gas industry, having worked for Mobil Oil Indonesia from 1994-1996; Mobil Oil in Dallas, US from 1989-1992; and Mobil Oil Indonesia from 1984-1988.

    Mr. Gatot M. Suwondo was appointed to be the President Director PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, one of the largest State Owned Bank in Indonesia, since February 2008. During his tenure as a CEO, Mr. Suwondo strengthens the financial foundation of the Bank and builds a sustainable growth of the financial performance and services by improving asset quality.

    Mr. Suwondo began his banking career in various strategic positions of private banks both domestic and foreign institutions. In 2001, when Bank Duta merged into Bank Danamon, he was appointed as the Managing Director of Bank Danamon. Then in May 2005 he moved to his new position as Deputy President Director of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk.

    Mr. Suwondo is also active in several business organizations. He served as Chairman of the Banking Committee in Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry. In November 2010, he was appointed as a Chairman of HIMBARA (Himpunan Bank–Bank Milik Negara, Association of State Owned Banks) until now.

    Mr. Arief Yahya, MSc, has been the President Director of Perusahaan Perseroan (Persero) PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (TELKOM) since May 11, 2012 and serves as its Chief Executive Officer.

    Mr. Yahya served as a Director of Enterprise & Wholesale of PT TELKOM since 2005 to 2012. He served as Member of Management Board at Perusahaan Perseroan (Persero) PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk., where he joined in 1986.

    Mr. Yahya served as President Commissioner of PT Sigma Cipta Caraka and also as its Commissioner since 2008. Mr. Yahya was awarded the Satya Lencana Pembangunan medal by the President of the Republic of Indonesia (2006) and cited as a Business Future Leader by SWA Magazine (2006).

    Mr. Erwin was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer in Bosowa Corporation in 2007 He holds this position until now. Under Mr. Aksa’s leadership, Bosowa turned into one of the 40 top companies in Indonesia. Currently, Bosowa employs around 15,000 people. It is the only privately owned cement producer.

    Mr. Aksa is considered as a prominent figure among the business community. He was the chairman in Hipmi in between 2008 to 2011 and was trusted to hold a position as a Deputy Chairman for The Indonesian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) in charge for the Small Medium Enterprises and Cooperatives. He holds this position until now. Mr. Aksa is also a Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo).
